Max Carl

Formerly known as Max Gronenthal, he first came to prominence as a member of Energy and Jack Mack And The Heart Attack during the early 70s, which also featured future Deep Purple guitarist Tommy Bolin. In 1979 Carl embarked on a solo career and released two melodic AOR albums, similar in style to the music of Toto, Kansas and early Michael Bolton. The Circle, his third solo album, released in 1985, evidenced name change but not the musical direction. After being dropped by MCA Records, he replaced Don Barnes in .38 Special. In the late 90s he was singing and playing blues an soul and this was the theme of One Planet, One Groove.
