About Mason Via

In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. I grew up in a musical family, Mama is a deadhead, and Daddy is a blue-grasser. One of my earliest memories was listening to my Dad and his band jam while I was falling asleep in Dad's open guitar case which had super soft shag lining inside of it. What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Brooks Forsyth, Swamp Street Tapes David Grisman, Jerry Garcia, Tony Rice, The Pizza Tapes Two Traditions, Balaphon, Banjo, Fiddle, and Drum I chose these 3 albums because I love listening to raw acoustic music, they each leave me feeling like I am in the same room as them while these songs are being performed and that sincerity and realness, pulls me in. Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Wide Open” Funny Story, when I wrote the line "got you tattooed on my arm before we left it all behind" I meant it as a figurative analogy but I had a Best-friend tell me after that he literally had his ex-wife's name tatted on his arm & had lived out the song. What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? Being Nominated for a Grammy, headlining Red Rocks, playing the Grand Ole Opry, Having songs of mine recorded by bluegrass legend's Del McCoury and Molly Tuttle, performing in front of 60,000 people at the Eagles Stadium opening for Luke Combs. Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? I would love to collaborate with more of my heroes, but the list keeps growing, there are so many amazing artists out there right now. My dream is to also one day be able to do a 200 date national tour across the country in a van with a band.
