About Martin Owen

One of Britain's leading horn players, Martin Owen has had a strong career in film music as well as classical orchestral playing. He is principal horn of the BBC Symphony Orchestra. Owen gave the world premiere of Malcolm Arnold's Burlesque with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, and in 1998, he joined the Royal Philharmonic as principal horn, remaining in that position until 2008. Owen has also been active as a pop session musician, making his recording debut in 1996 on Louis Philippe's album Jackie Girl. Owen was named principal horn of the BBC Symphony in 2008. Parallel to his classical career, Owen has appeared on more than 300 film soundtracks. In 2023, he released his solo debut, performing works by Richard Strauss, Robert Schumann, and Carl Maria von Weber with the BBC Philharmonic.
