About Martin Harley Band
Formed in Surrey, England, in 2003 by guitarist and songwriter Harley, the band plays contemporary blues, laced with other latter-day forms, thus acknowledging the tradition while being very much of the moment. Harley customarily plays slide lap guitar and his band originally included Adam Wolters (bass), who left to be replaced by Graeme Ross, and Pete Swatton (drums). Among the songs in the band’s repertoire, many of which are Harley’s compositions, are ‘Money Don’t Matter’, ‘If The World’s Gonna Change’, ‘Can’t Help Moving’, ‘Lonely With You’, ‘Blues In My Window’, ‘Carnival Girl’, ‘Somebody New’ and ‘I Call It A Night’. Through the lyrics of the songs they perform, the band paints vivid images of experiences, which, while contemporary, would be recognized by earlier generations of bluesmen. In addition to appearing throughout the UK at concerts clubs and on television, the band has also visited Australia and appeared at the 2006 La Fete De L’Humanite, in Paris, France.
