About Luther Dickinson

A gifted guitarist with an eclectic range of influences, Luther Dickinson has earned a reputation as an innovator in modern blues while also having a keen understanding of and respect for its rich history. Born in Memphis, which was his musician/producer father's base of operations for many years, Luther made his recording debut at the age of 14, adding some guitar howls to the sessions for the Replacements' Pleased to Meet Me. He formed the North Mississippi All-Stars in 1996, and began doing session work with a bevy of notable artists. He joined the Black Crowes in 2008, and released his first solo album, a set of acoustic instrumentals called Hambone's Meditations, in 2012. ~ Mark Deming
