About Louis Dowdeswell

An in-demand London-based trumpeter, Louis Dowdeswell emerged in the 2010s as a high-note specialist and jazz performer. Along with notable gigs playing with various big bands and West End musical productions, Dowdeswell established himself online posting big-band covers of popular film and musical themes. A gifted trumpeter from a young age, Dowdeswell earned scholarships to both Wells Cathedral School and the Purcell School of Music. Later, he honed his skills attending the prestigious Royal Academy of Music, where he graduated in 2016. Privately, he also gained direction studying with a bevy of brass luminaries including Simon Gardner, Mike Lovatt, Wayne Bergeron, and Paul Beniston, to name a few. From 2012 to 2014, he held the lead-trumpet chair with the National Youth Jazz Orchestra, and has worked with a wide array of performers and bands including the Ronnie Scott Jazz Orchestra, the BBC Big Band, Josh Groban, and more. He also found work in the theater, playing for West End productions of Guys and Dolls, Aladdin, Wicked, and others. On his own, Dowdeswell amassed a strong following online with his popular videos in which he plays big-band versions of well-known film and musical songs, including covers of the themes from Rocky, Frozen, Game of Thrones, and more. He released his debut album of big-band music, High Score, in 2018. ~ Matt Collar
