About Liz Vice

An American gospel, soul, and R&B artist based out of Portland, Oregon, Liz Vice's dynamic vocals, timeless melodies, and heartfelt lyrics invoke names like Mavis Staples, Adele, Laura Mvula, and Sister Rosetta Tharpe. The middle of five children, Vice grew up in a musical and spiritual household, where she honed her musical talents. Diagnosed with kidney disease at the age of 19, Vice's artistic ambitions were put on hold while she spent three and a half years on hemodialysis, eventually receiving a kidney transplant in 2005 that saved her life. Upon recovering, Vice committed herself to faith and music, performing and sharing the stage with a host of local greats like Eric Early (Blitzen Trapper), Josh White (Telecast), Josh Garrels, Tunde Baiyewu (Lighthouse Family), Luz Mendoza (Y la Bamba), and Eshon Burgundy (Humble Beast). Soon she was opening for the likes of Cody Chesnutt and St. Paul & the Broken Bones, and in 2015 she released her critically acclaimed debut album, There's a Light, via Ramseur Records. ~ James Christopher Monger
