Liz Janes

About Liz Janes

Singer and songwriter Liz Janes grew up in a suburb of Washington D.C., where she was raised on a steady diet of AM radio before discovering classic blues, jazz, and gospel. When Janes moved to Olympia, Washington to attend college, she fell in with a group of musicians performing experimental noise music and soon changed her major from philosophy to art, while also renewing her interest in music. In time, Janes had accumulated enough songs to record an album, 2002's Done Gone Fire. A second album, Poison & Snakes, was released in 2004, and a year later, she recorded an idiosyncratic set of classic folk songs with the ensemble Create(!). Her second solo album, Say Goodbye, was released in 2010. ~ Mark Deming
