About Lito y Polaco

Lito y Polaco are a Puerto Rican hip-hop/reggaeton duo consisting of Rafael Sierra (Lito) and Rafael Omar Polaco Molina (Polaco). Active since the 1990s, the pair are infamous for their violent lyrics as well as their rivalries with several other reggaeton artists. The duo first collaborated on mixtapes by DJ Eric during the mid-'90s before releasing their own singles toward the end of the decade. They released several singles and albums near the beginning of the 2000s as reggaeton began to increase in popularity. The duo's 2002 album Mundo Frio was nominated for Latin Rap Album of the Year at the Billboard Awards. Following 2004's successful Fuera de Serie and its accompanying tour and live album, the duo decided to split in order to focus on their solo careers. In late 2007, they announced a reunion album titled La Institucion, but this never came to fruition. After several years of working solo and the occasional single as a duo, Lito y Polaco announced their full-scale reunion in 2014, with plans to tour and release a new album. ~ Paul Simpson
