In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. I was ten years old and we'd just learned a rope skipping song in school, filling me with pure joy. Inspired, I plucked up all my courage after class, I asked our teacher if I could sing for her. I did and it was a magical moment for me. What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Abbey Lincoln, Abbey Is Blue Remastered Grover Washington, Jr., All My Tomorrows Sheila Jordan, Jazz Child I saw Abbey Lincoln perform live, which inspired me to find my very own voice in music. All my tomorrows sow the seed for my love for jazz. Sheila Jordan's Jazz Child reminds me to invest myself in everything I do. There's fun in being serious. Tell us why you chose this song. “On the Other Side” From a place within, even when the world sometimes seems cold and dark, and we feel alone, misunderstood, fearful or tired of trying to make ends meet, there's always a world of love and trust, joy and peace present; if we just look a little closer. What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? Playing my UK live debut at London's Jazz Club The Hideaway in 2018 with bass player Calum Gourlay and drummer Dave Hamblett. It was an amazing night with such a beautiful and welcoming audience. And the whole crowd joined in to sing my peace prayer! Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? I want to play at Ronnie Scott's London, Porgy&Bess Vienna, WOMAD and Bristol Jazz & Blues Festival. I want to record more music, produce videos and write for an ensemble extended.
