About Like Pacific
Hard-hitting pop-punk/emo quintet Like Pacific formed in Toronto, Canada around lead vocalist Jordan Black in the late 2000s. Their second full-length, In Spite of Me, made the Top 25 of the Billboard Independent Albums chart in 2018.
Founded in 2009, Like Pacific brought together friends with a shared love of heavy but tuneful rock; they adopted the motto "stay pissed" to represent their energetic approach. While building a reputation locally with their live performances and songs that referenced Toronto locales and landmarks, they self-released their debut EP, The Worst…, in 2011. The Homebound EP followed a year later. In 2014, they signed with New Damage/Pure Noise Records, which released the Sam Guaiana-produced Like Pacific EP in early 2015. It featured the lineup of Black, guitarists Greg Hall and Luke Holmes, bassist Chris Thaung, and drummer Dillon Forret. The band finally delivered its full-length debut, Distant Like You Asked, in February 2016. It was also produced by Guaiana, but featured Dylan Burnett and Cam Ward on guitar in place of Hall and Holmes. The album led to bookings at Riot Fest, SXSW, and on the Vans Warped Tour. Like Pacific followed it up with In Spite of Me, which landed on the Heatseekers and Independent Albums charts upon its release in 2018. With production by Derek Hoffman (Seaway, the Elwins), it saw the return of Hall and Holmes on guitar and introduced Brad Garcia on bass and Taylor Ewart on drums. ~ Marcy Donelson & Timothy Monger
