About Leftover Salmon

One of the few 1990s jam bands to explore bluegrass and country music, Leftover Salmon began its existence as a coalition of two Boulder, Colorado, outfits, the Salmon Heads and the Left Hand String Band. A popular live attraction, it followed its 1993 debut album with a 1995 concert recording, both independently released. After signing with the major label Hollywood Records in 1997, the band maintained its upward trajectory with a second studio release and a major festival appearance that same year. Though its success continued through lineup changes and the 2002 death from cancer of its banjo player, Mark Vann, Leftover Salmon announced an extended hiatus in 2004.
