Lambert Cronk

When Dave Cousins deactivated the Strawbs in 1980 and left music to become a deejay, group members Dave Lambert and Chas Cronk, who had known each other long before they were in the band together, decided to try cutting an album of their own. At the time, they couldn't muster any interest from the record industry, which was concerned with punk, new wave, and power pop, and the duo died on the vine. Both eventually rejoined the Strawbs when the latter group was re-formed and, with Cousins, comprise two thirds of the Acoustic Strawbs trio, which toured the United States in the spring and summer of 2009. Their album Touch the Earth, with two additional tracks, was belatedly released in 2007. ~ Bruce Eder
