Lael Neale

Singer/songwriter Lael Neale creates magical and rough-edged songs with abandoned lo-fi technology. She started out with a style that tangled together melancholic folk, sun-drenched country, and indie rock, putting her lilting voice at the forefront of gorgeous, sometimes twangy arrangements. After signing with Sub Pop and establishing a collaborative flow with producer and accompanist Guy Blakeslee, her subsequent albums embraced minimalism. 2021's Acquainted with Night stripped many of the songs down to their barest essence, and the sparse pop of albums like 2023's Star Eaters Delight and 2025's Altogether Stranger was created in a way that intentionally avoided digital recording methods.
