About Keith Kelly
b. 1937, Selby, Yorkshire, England. This pop/rock, singer/guitarist was an original member of the John Barry Seven, who he had joined after spending three years in the Royal Air Force. He left Barry’s group in 1959 and sang at the renowned 2Is coffee bar in Soho, London, where he was spotted by producer George Martin. Martin signed him to Parlophone and his first recording ‘Tease Me’ made the UK Top 20. The bespectacled singer (who reputedly wrote his hit on a London Underground train on the way to his flat in Shepherds Bush), managed to put the follow-up ‘Listen Little Girl’ into the lower reaches of the chart, but it was to be his last success. Kelly, one of the earliest UK rock singer-songwriters, briefly re-appeared with a single ‘Save Your Love For Me’ on CBS in 1965.
