Kate Royal

About Kate Royal

Lyric soprano Kate Royal has taken her time to understand her voice and find the music that fits it. She sets aside five months of every year to do song recitals, giving herself time to fully prepare for opera roles and to spend with her family. She was an understudy at Glyndebourne and a member of its touring company between 2004 before signing an exclusive contract with EMI in the fall of 2006. Her self-titled solo debut recording was released in 2007. She has appeared on stage and in choral performances with conductors such as Simon Rattle and Myung-Whun Chung. Royal has appeared in opera, symphony, and oratorio recordings and has a growing catalog of solo albums. In 2020, she was featured in a recording of Carlisle Floyd's Prince of Players.
