About Justin Quiles

Justin Quiles has a voice so captivating that he can make the most otherwise mundane monosyllable—like “jeans,” the hook of his same-named 2020 hit—sound like poetry. And he’s got a mind that can spin an elaborately romantic story out of the same everyday yarn. That talent has made Quiles a go-to writer for some of Latin pop’s biggest names—J Balvin, Sech, KAROL G, Dímelo Flow, and Maluma—as well as a beloved reggaetónero in his own right. Born in Bridgeport, Connecticut in 1990, Quiles was raised in Puerto Rico, then bounced between both places until settling in Orlando shortly after graduating high school. By then, he was already writing songs. His recording career started off strong—in 2014, he got J Balvin on the remix of his single “Orgullo”—and over the next few years, Quiles’ silky tenor, frictionless dembow grooves, and seductive storytelling made him a regular fixture both in the Latin charts and in the credits of his peers’ music. Part of what makes Quiles such a captivating character is his capacity to surprise—both from song to song and from verse to chorus. That willingness to switch things up has served him well as a songwriter and producer, he told Apple Music. “However the vibe, I can adapt. That’s what being a good producer and composer is all about—being able to adapt to everything.”
