About Julie Matthews
A prominent British singer/songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and producer best known for her work with the Albion Band and fellow ex-Albion member Chris While, Julie Matthews was born in 1963 in Sheffield, Yorkshire, England. A self-taught musical polymath, Matthews began writing songs while still in school, eventually moving to London at the age of 18 to write for a small publishing company. She joined the Albion Band in 1990 and became a pivotal force within the popular Ashley Hutchings-led folk-rock group, before launching a successful and long-running folk duo with Julie Matthews in 1998 with the album Piecework. The duo's most recent offering, Who We Are, was issued in 2014. ~ James Christopher Monger
