About Journos
In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. Bryan: I was at conservatory at 15, I spent the morning with a renown soloist. But after watching him awkwardly interact with other humans at lunch time, I thought: "Maybe the classical music world is not for me - especially if I want to meet girls.” What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Jeff Buckley, Grace The Beatles, Revolver Tom Waits, Nighthawks at the Diner (2018 Remaster) Bryan: With Randy Newman "Good Old Boys," these records transformed what I thought songwriting was. Ryan: Nirvana “Unplugged,” REM “Automatic for the People.” But I got that giant Beatles guitar book - and didn't come out of my room for two years. Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “The Opener” Ryan says: “The Opener.” It’s Bryan’s song but I’m proud of my contributions to it and relate to being the guy who’s been fighting for all these years. Getting so close, but it’s always just out of reach. I still love the long drive home after shows. What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? As Journos, it’s hard to beat opening up for Steve Miller Band and hearing them soundcheck "Jet Airliner" as we lugged our gear. Then after hearing our check, making a point to tell us that "We're teaching robots how to drive," is a terrific lyric. Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? Everything. There have been a lot of great little victories and special moments, but we haven't yet had that 'breakout' moment that exposes us to a bigger audience nationwide and worldwide. Until then, we'll keep on grinding.
