About Johnnie & Jack

Though they weren't brothers, Johnnie Wright and Jack Anglin forged a vocal style in the mode of the classic country brother duos. They began singing together in 1936, but shortly after, Wright launched Johnnie Wright & His Harmony Girls, with his wife Kitty Wells. Johnnie & Jack's career was officially inaugurated in '39. Their biggest success came in 1952, with their signature hit “Poison Love.” Anglin was killed in a car accident in 1963, and Wright continued on as a solo artist, scoring a few more hits in the '60s. He continued to perform live with Wells, and the couple remained together for the rest of their lives.
