About Joel Goodman

In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. The day my dad brought home Herbie Hancock’s Headhunters album. I couldn’t get enough of it. I played the album so many times I think we had to buy a second copy. What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Arthur Rubinstein, Rubinstein Collection, Vol. 49: Chopin: Nocturnes Elton John, Captain Fantastic and the Brown Dirt Cowboy Deluxe Edition John Coltrane, A Love Supreme A Love Supreme is a beautiful album in concept/execution & takes music in a new direction. Captain Fantastic and the Brown Dirt Cowboy takes me back to childhood. Chopin: Nocturnes is absolutely beguiling with exquisite performances by Rubinstein. Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Farewell” Tim Hetherington & Sebastian Junger made the Oscar-nominated film Restrepo together. 2 months after the Oscars Tim was killed covering the war in Libya as a photojournalist. This film was made so that the world would know his remarkable photography. What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? The day I called my past assistant after collaborating on a score to tell him that we were nominated together as composers for an Emmy Award. Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? There’s not enough room here :). I don’t believe in bucket lists per se, but I do want to collaborate more and to finish some of the large-scale orchestral pieces I’ve started, and then to hear them performed live.
