About Joe Gibbs

After opening a recording studio and starting a record label in association with future superstars Bunny Lee and Lee "Scratch" Perry in 1967, Joe Gibbs quickly became one of the hottest producers in Jamaica. Scoring hits with Nicky Thomas's "Love of the Common People," Culture's classic album TWO SEVENS CLASH, and many others with his core band the Professionals (starring the totemic Sly & Robbie), Gibbs remained a key figure in reggae throughout the '80s. In addition, Gibbs also recorded several dub albums under his own name, including the four-part AFRICAN DUB series.
