In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. Seeing the great jazz drummer Roy Hayes perform live at the Dayton Art Institute. I was 14 years old and it was my first time hear professional jazz musicians of the magnitude. At that point I realize exactly how expressive the drumset could be. What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Danilo Perez, Panamonk Los Hombres Calientes, Los Hombres Calientes, Vol. 3: New Congo Square Various Artists, O Melhor Da Música Romântica Brasileira I love these albums because they capture my favorite things of my favorite three genres: Jazz, Brazillian, and Cuban. Every time I listen to either of these I am reminded why I became a musician and why I chose the drums. Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Danielle” This original song was composted in the style of a "Jazz Standard" for an assignment in Shelly Berg's song writing class while I was a Master Student in Jazz Studies at USC. It special to me because it has a great sax solo by the late Zane Music.
