About Jim Nelson

In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. I remember hearing music through the walls of my childhood bedroom. The songs of Bob Dylan and Neil Young coming out of the little speaker of my brother's record player. I wanted to learn those songs. I wanted to live those songs. What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Bob Dylan, Blood On The Tracks John Prine, Sweet Revenge Turnpike Troubadours, Diamonds and Gasoline These three albums represent the reason that I play music. Bob Dylan got me hooked, John Prine showed me how to write songs in a simple yet meaningful way, and Turnpike showed me that there is still a lot of good music being made these days. Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Still in the Band” Still in the Band is a semi-autobiographical song that reminds me how much I love creating and playing music, and also it shows what a big part of my life music has always been. What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? One of the most memorable moments in my musical career has been playing bass for an up-and-coming country artist on the main stage of a big country music festival. It gave me a real taste of what it takes to be successful in the music world. Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? As a songwriter, it has been on my bucket list to have someone else record one of my songs. That's as validating as it gets!
