In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. I took piano lessons from the most sophiscated woman in my small North Dakota town. Waiting for my lesson to start, I read her New Yorker magazines - reviews of the great jazz musicians. She started me on stride piano when my hands got bigger. What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? John Coltrane, Johnny Hartman, John Coltrane and Johnny Hartman Classics Little Big Town, Wichita Lineman (feat. Jimmy Webb) [Live] - Single Thelonious Monk, Genius of Modern Music, Vol. 1 I go back to these albums all the time. Coltrane and Hartman remind me to strive for beauty; Monk always makes me think about new possibilities in my music; and Jimmy Webb inspires me to find deeper meaning in my lyrics.
