In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. I remember listening to Julian Bream as an eight year old in the Bridgewater Hall. He has been one of my musical idols ever since, even though I do not think I play a lot like him at all. What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? La Mascarade - Music For Solo Baroque Guitar And Theorbo / Rolf Lislevand Jordi Savall, Le Concert des Nations, François Couperin: Les Concerts Royaux, 1722 Julian Bream, Music of Spain - Granados & Albéniz, Vol. 25 Julian Bream uses everything that makes plucked instruments so special in his interpretations. He embraces all the idiosyncrasies of the guitar rather than trying and failing to emulate a keyboard instrument. The same goes for Rolf Lislevand. Tell us why you chose this song. “Fugue in G Minor, BWV 1000” It’s probably not a very modest answer but I like a lot of the things I have recorded. This is one of them! Maybe I will hate it in a few years.. What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? I was given the chance to lead my home ensemble in Norway, Barokkanerne, in a programme centred around the lute. It was amazing to receive so much support from my colleagues playing some of my favourite lute music, and the result was good I believe! Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? Lots of things! II would love to play a baroque lute recital in Wigmore Hall for one.
