About Isaac Castor

Initially going by the moniker Gameboi, MC Isaac Castor took the Ann Arbor hip-hop scene by storm at an alarmingly young age in the early 2010's. Originally from the suburbs of Chicago, Castor began writing rhymes when he was nine years old. His family moved to Ann Arbor, Michigan in 2009, when he was 13, and he began attending music production workshops at teen community center The Neutral Zone. The center's staff were astounded at his skill level and mature subject matter, and Castor began collaborating with members of local hip-hop crews such as Tree City and Celsius Electronics. His first mixtape, The Posterchild, was released digitally in 2010. It didn't take long for Castor's name to spread far and wide, and the next few years found the young rapper opening for well-known artists such as Twista, Mac Miller, and Pusha-T on their national tours. The next few Gameboi releases featured guest appearances by One Be Lo and Little Brother's Rapper Big Pooh, as well as production by Statik Selektah and Skywlkr. Castor retired the Gameboi alias at the end of 2013 and began performing under his given name. Castor was featured on The Drift, an early 2014 EP by Michelle Chamuel and Arjun Singh (who frequently produces beats for Castor). Castor's album High Art, produced by Singh, appeared in 2015. ~ Paul Simpson
