About Ian and Sylvia
Canadian folk duo Ian and Sylvia were stars of the 1960s folk scene best known for their songs "You Were On My Mind," later a pop hit for the folk-rock group We Five, and "Four Strong Winds." Ian Tyson and Sylvia Fricker met on the Toronto coffeehouse scene in 1959 and, by 1962, were signed to Vanguard Records. They released six albums for the label between 1962 and 1967, moving from traditional folk to electric folk-rock. Five later albums for other labels found the duo exploring country rock. Married in 1964, Ian and Sylvia divorced a decade later and moved on to solo careers.
