About Houses of Heaven

Oakland-based trio Houses of Heaven play an intense, percussive blend of post-punk, darkwave, and industrial dance, filled with driving rhythms, hazy guitars, and shadowy vocals. The group's debut full-length, Silent Places, appeared in 2020. The band consists of Keven Tecon, Nick Ott, and Adam Beck, all former members of Vaniish, who released an album on Metropolis in 2014. Tecon had also led Veil Veil Vanish, another Bay Area post-punk band who were signed to Metropolis during the 2000s, and additionally played in the Soft Moon and Wax Idols shortly before Vaniish's album was released. Houses of Heaven's first EP, Remnant, was produced and mixed by Monte Vallier at Ruminator Studios, and mastered by Rafael Anton Irisarri. Mixing dub-influenced effects with dark post-punk rhythms, the release appeared on Felte Records in 2017. The group's debut album, 2020's Silent Places, was produced by Matia Simovich of Inhalt, and engineered by Vallier and John McEntire (Tortoise). ~ Paul Simpson
