About Haven

Heavy metal trio Haven first came together when singer Pamme, bassist Michael Brody, and guitarist John Vanselow found themselves answering the same ads in local papers. Pamme had spent time in several cover bands, even landing a gig with future Guns n' Roses drummer Matt Sorum at one point. Brody and Vanselow were both ardent '70s rock fans that followed a similar path, and the three had very similar musical visions that fit their songwriting purposes. Crafting a commercial sound that had elements of '80s arena rock and '70s progressive metal, the group often garnered comparisons to Heart once they began to perform live. After recording a demo and selling it at shows and local music stores, they began to post their music on the still-burgeoning Internet. A European record label heard the group and signed them to Now & Then/Frontier Records soon after, so the band drew on its friends to help them record their debut album. Bringing in Sorum to play drums and MSG vocalist Robin McAuley for background vocals, they recorded The Road and released in 2002. ~ Bradley Torreano
