About Hüseyin Sermet
In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. Well, I was 19 years old when I first played Ravel's Left Hand Concerto. The beginning was pretty difficult due to trying to play with only one hand. You really want to help your poor left hand with the right one, but you can't. What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Art Tatum, Ultimate: Art Tatum Maurizio Pollini, Maurizio Pollini Edition Vladimir Ashkenazy, Ashkenazy 50: Ashkenazy Plays Chopin Pollini and Ashkenazy, two pianists that I feel very close musically as well as Art Tatum because I am in love with jazz despite being a classical pianist myself! Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Piano Sonata, S. 178” The important thing in Franz Liszt’s Piano Sonata is very simply the struggle of good and evil from birth to death which is, in essence, what we call life. What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? Meeting Thierry de Brunhoff and starting to work with him led to my achievements. After leaving École Normale to become a priest, Thierry and I continued working together for three more years. Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? I believe that I have reached a certain point in terms of style and therefore prefer focusing mainly on composing in addition to new recording projects.
