Jazz vocalist Gregory Porter attended high school with the members of nu metal band Korn, whom he beat in a talent show during his junior year.

∙ In 1999, he costarred in the Broadway musical revue It Ain’t Nothin’ But the Blues.
∙ He’s notched four Top 10 UK releases, including one Platinum and two Gold albums in Europe.
∙ Porter has earned seven Grammy nominations and won twice for Best Jazz Vocal Album—2013’s Liquid Spirit and 2016’s Take Me to the Alley.
∙ Crediting Nat “King” Cole as a prime inspiration, he recorded 2017’s Nat King Cole & Me, his first album recorded with a full orchestra.
∙ In July 2020, he became the first recording artist to perform for a Mars mission launch, singing “America the Beautiful.”
