About Greg Ginn
Born in 1954, jazz and jam-band-influenced guitarist Greg Ginn made an unlikely musical detour through punk. By the late 1970s, he had started the soon-to-be legendary California hardcore band Black Flag, which became equally known as the launching pad for Henry Rollins’s career. During that same period, Ginn started seminal independent label SST, which released Black Flag’s LPs, but also early records by the Minutemen, Dinosaur Jr., and countless others. After Black Flag dissolved in the late 1980s, Ginn began putting out a prolific string of shambolic solo albums during the mid-1990s, including the acclaimed GETTING EVEN. And after a long recording break, he formed a free-jazz-leaning outfit called the Texas Corrugators, releasing 2008’s GOOF OFF EXPERTS.
