Granati Brothers

About Granati Brothers

One of the 80's most often overlooked combos, the Granati Brothers offered a hard rock sound that never quite caught on despite the obvious quality of much of their work. Starting in 1975, Hermie Granati was the first of his brothers to realize he wanted to make music. After recording with several smaller combos, he convinced brothers Rick, Joe, and David to team with their cousin Tony Lee and begin writing material together. The group came together quickly and after two or so years of playing together, the band was discovered in a Pennsylvania club by the band Gentle Giant. Renamed G-Force, the group released their eponymous debut in 1979, a small effort that still gained them some mainstream attention due to their signing to A&M Records. Later that year, a tour with Heart,. Van Halen, and many others crossed the country and drew incredible numbers. Keeping their new moniker, they stayed on the road with Van Halen through 1981 and began to catch attention from Guitar Player magazine. Rick organized a benefit concert for unemployed steel workers and began championing their rights on a national platform. The group eventually dissolved during this period, and the various members went their separate ways before their family would be affected by the rigors of touring and recording. Still, a recording studio built with one another began to bring them together more often and after teen heartthrob Aaron Carter released a Granati-written song, the band realized they wanted to stay together. Reuniting the band, they put together G...The Continuing Adventures of the Granati Bros... in 2002 and released it that fall. ~ Bradley Torreano
