About Grace VanderWaal

Grace VanderWaal is a pop singer and TV reality-competition winner known for her distinctive quirky vocals and ukulele-driven tunes. ∙ She wanted a ukulele for her 11th birthday, but her mom didn’t think she would actually play it—so Grace bought one herself and learned by watching online videos. ∙ In 2015, she began posting covers and original songs online, and the following year, at age 12, she won America’s Got Talent. ∙ Perfectly Imperfect—her first EP with all originals, including her competition highlight, “I Don’t Know My Name”—debuted in the Top 10 of the Billboard 200 in 2016. ∙ Her first official video, for the single “Moonlight”—from her hit 2017 debut album, Just the Beginning—garnered more than 10 million views in under two months. ∙ At the 2017 Teen Choice Awards, she won Choice Next Big Thing honors, and she took home the Rising Star Award at that year’s Billboard Women in Music event. ∙ VanderWaal made her acting debut in 2020 as the star of the Disney teen drama film Stargirl, which featured her song “Today and Tomorrow.”
