About Glorinha Gadelha

Glorinha Gadelha has had noted participation in the national and international music scene, both as a composer and an interpreter. Her songs have been recorded by such performers as Clara Nunes ("Feira de Mangaio," "Como É Grande e Bonita a Natureza"), Luiz Gonzaga, Zé Ramalho, Quarteto em Cy, Moraes Moreira, Elba Ramalho, and Amelinha. In 1968, she participated in the show A Grande Chance (TV Tupi). In the next year, she won the III Festival de Música Popular Paraibana. In 1974, she wrote the book O Bailado das Sardinhas. In the next year, she moved to the U.S. where she studied music at Columbia University at New York for two years, where she performed several times, also with Sivuca (her husband and partner on hits like "Energia" and "Feira de Mangaio"). In 1981, already living in Brazil, she recorded her first solo album, Bendito o Fruto, followed by an increase in her international performances. She continues to perform and record. ~ Alvaro Neder
