Austin’s fractured, soulful Ghostland Observatory answers the burning question of how Queen would have sounded had they fired Brian May, drafted Prince to replace him, and continued down the path of “Another One Bites the Dust.” The duo of drummer/producer Thomas Turner and singer Aaron Behrens explores a chilly version of new-wave blue-eyed soul and funk that has little precedent in their native Texas, but sounds beamed in from an imaginary radio station bookended by Hall and Oates and Daft Punk and DJ’ed by alien robots.
