About Eugene Bozza

Bozza studied at the Paris Conservatoire where he won premiers prix for violin, conducting and composition. He won the Prix de Rome in 1934 for his Légende de Roukmani. He conducted the Opéra-Comique in Paris from 1939-48, and he took a position as director of the Ecole Nationale de Musique, Valenciennes, in 1951. Bozza is most known for his large number of chamber music for winds. These works are characteristic of 20th-century French chamber music in that they are elegantly structured and contain fluent melodies. ~ Lynn Vought
