About Eddie Allen

New York-based trumpeter Eddie Allen is a warm-toned, exploratory improviser, a valued and valuable member of the city's musical community. He's played in symphony and Broadway orchestras, and various jazz bands; Allen also leads Push. In the '80s, he recorded with Charlie Persip's Superband, and with Craig Harris, Louis Hayes, and Vanessa Rubin. He also served in Lester Bowie's Brass Fantasy, and recorded with Bobby Previte. Allen spent several years with Mongo Santamaria. Three of his first four leader albums -- 1993's Another's Point of View, 1995's R'n'B, and 2000's Summer Days -- appeared from Enja. He issued three albums for DBCD titled Sãlongo (2007), Groove's Mood (2008), and Jazzy Brass for the Holidays (2009). He returned in 2014 with Push titled after his band's name. Given other musical commitments, Allen and Push didn't issue another album until January 2026, when they returned with Rhythm People on Origin Records.
