Dragonauta

A retro-rock outfit based in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Dragonauta was founded in 1999 by vocalist Federico Wolman, guitarist Daniel Libedinsky, bassist Martín Mendez (not the Uruguayan-born Opeth bassist), and drummer Ariel Solito. After revealing decidedly retro, Earth-to-early-Black Sabbath influences with their very first demo, the quartet paired up with compatriot stoner rock trio los Natas for a split release in 2000, but it wasn't until three years later that a full-length Dragonauta debut finally emerged. Controversially entitled Luciferatu, it was released by local independent Dias de Garage Records and led to the hiring of second guitarist Hernán Espejo. ~ Eduardo Rivadavia
