Seeing my drum set for the very 1st time (my father and brother bought them for my 7th BD) in the back of our hatchback. The NEW! (used) blue Royce drums waiting for me. That energy still vibrates, and I've kept those drums to this day, 33 yrs later. What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Anteloper, Tour Beats, Vol. 1 (feat. Jason Nazary & Jaimie Branch) - EP Craig Taborn Trio, Craig Taborn Trio This music is in my life. Gerald Cleaver in Craig's Trio and me being THAT close to them as it was being made. Sylvie Courvoisier's Trio is a masterpiece, and I was lucky to play the music on tour in Europe with them. Tell us why you chose this song. “Notester” I still really love "Notester" from 2015 on my Relative Resonance release. There’s something really fresh and fearlessly bold about the approach to the composition, and ultimately the confidence of the band that really makes the energy move forward. What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? In 2018 when I started my own record label (Rataplan Records NYC) and released Dirigo Rataplan II and completed a world tour. All of it was organized by myself, and it was a huge operation but I learned so much from it and will continue on this path. Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? As a human, I am yet to go skydiving. As an artist, I am still searching every day for new creative ways to express myself as honestly as possible. My solo record Most Definitely (out June 9th 2023) is big one for me, and I am SUPER excited to share.
