Deepsky

About Deepsky

The progressive trance duo Deepsky consists of New Mexico natives J. Scotty G. and Jason Blum. Their mid-'90s singles for Rampant Records include Tempest, which became the theme for MTV's electronica show, AMP, and In My Mind, both of which were featured on the label's Planet Rampant II singles collection. The duo then moved to Fragrant records, where they collaborated with Shawn Parker as the Dayspring Collective and released the album Spark. Deepsky's 1998 single Stargazer brought them greater acclaim in the dance world, as did their remixes for artists like Carl Cox and Kaistar. The group relocated to L.A. and, appropriately, switched to the City of Angels label, where they expanded Stargazer into an EP. Two years later, Deepsky collaborated with world vocalist Jai Uttal for the ethereal "Cosmic Dancer." Mixmag touted it the fourth best single for 1999. A remix version of the cut would appear on Deepsky's debut for Kinetic, In Silico, in early 2002. ~ Heather Phares
