Deckwrecka

About Deckwrecka

The Deckwrecka, also known as DJ Agzilla, is part of the small but passionate U.K. hip-hop scene. He began DJing in 1986, but it wasn't until 1990, when he met industrial funk pioneers 23 Skidoo, that he began to play and record in earnest. Along with members of 23 Skidoo, he formed Ronin Records in 1989 and began to release records from the U.K. hip-hop underground. The Deckwrecka spent the first half of the '90s doing production for Ronin and eventually he began to release his own records. The Deckwrecka series began in 1995, and by 2003 six volumes had been released. Productions with Skitz and Roots Manuva also found their way onto his resumé and his first full-length, V for Vengance, dropped in 2000. Shortly thereafter, the Deckwrecka's productions began making their way onto big-name alternative hip-hop mixes by the likes of DJ Spooky, Nightmares on Wax, and his sometimes-collaborator Roots Manuva. His second solo album, A Better Tomorrow?, came out in 2002. ~ Wade Kergan
