About Debasser
In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. Being bought a Yamaha VSS-30 portable sampler keyboard by my Dad when I was 9 changed everything. Suddenly I could record anything, mess it up and create something completely new. That's not saying the half the sounds I made weren't just awful! What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Beastie Boys, Hello Nasty Daft Punk, Homework The Future Sound of London, Papua New Guinea I've always loved Homework, it's a work of pure musical genius with both grit and shine throughout. Equally you can't really flaw Hello Nasty, in my opinion Beastie Boys best. And without Papua New Guinea I might never have tried to write dance music Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Pork Scratchings (feat. Tony Bonus)” Not sure I could class this as my best tune but I love it. And the fact it has vocals from Tony Bonus just add to the joy. It's hard not to listen to this tune without smiling. My brother thinks it's rubbish but that sort of makes me like it more. What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? Playing live at 93 Feet East as part of a Mute Records night to be told afterwards that Andrew Weatherall had come along specially to hear me play. I'm just glad no one told me he was there beforehand - not sure my nerves could have taken it. Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? To play a live set on the roof of Buckingham Place. If it's good enough for Brian May....
