About DC Cardwell

In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. Some of my earliest musical adventures came from listening to John Peel’s late-night BBC shows. His eclectic taste opened up a world of sound I’d never imagined — punk, folk, oddball experiments, and everything in between. Especially Neil Young! What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Al Green, The Belle Album Sam Phillips, Martinis and Bikinis The Beatles, Revolver When Marjie & I started dating we bought Revolver and fell in love all over again. Perfect - but our biggest thrill was And Your Bird Can Sing. Al Green is faultless. Sam Phillips isn't so well known, but if you like these two, you should like her! Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “I Am Still the Same” I read about a guy who had Locked-In Syndrome. That means he couldn't move any part of his body. Eventually he learned to spell out letters by blinking his eyes. The very first thing he spelt out was, "I Am Still The Same", which touched me deeply. What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? "I Am Still The Same" was one of the first songs I wrote or recorded, and in 2011 I entered it in the Australian Catapult Song Contest. Somehow, I took out TWO prizes - the Judges' Award and the People's Favourite. Huge encouragement to keep going :) Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? My aim is simply to keep making music. Writing songs that *I* like - ones that speak to people and have some kind of depth to them. And hopefully a good tune. And maybe the odd memorable guitar riff. And recording them the way *I* want to!
