About David Rose
A distinguished orchestra leader, composer, and arranger, Michael Rose graduated from the Chicago College of Music at the age of 16. In 1936, he provided the arrangement for Benny Goodman’s big hit "It’s Been So Long," before moving to Hollywood, where he formed his own orchestra. During World War II, Rose was composer/conductor for the morale-boosting musical WINGED VICTORY, and had a big hit with his own composition "Holiday For Strings" in 1943. He later wrote scores and themes for over 20 television series and 36 films, and had a worldwide smash hit in 1962 with the humorous instrumental "The Stripper."
