David Milligan

About David Milligan

b. 1971, Scotland. After studying jazz at Leeds College of Music Milligan became an in-demand pianist in Scotland, playing with visitors from other parts of the UK and from the USA, among them Buddy De Franco, Art Farmer, Scott Hamilton, Pete King and Valery Ponomarev. Milligan has also worked regularly with Carol Kidd, appearing on 2000’s Auld Lang Syne. His jazz trio, featuring drummer Tom Bancroft and bass player Tom Lyne, released their recording debut in 2003. Although undeniably a jazz pianist, and one of considerable merit, Milligan ably draws into the contemporary jazz repertoire, stylistic hints of the folk music of Scotland and as a result brings a very distinctive sound to many of his performances.
