About Currently Nameless
Growing out of the North Country, Vermont's Currently Nameless presents a sound that is so eclectic it is generic; a fate that has befallen many other units within the jam band genre in which they operate. The quintet mixes strummed folk, funk, and psychedelic soul into an indistinct blend. Fronted by Sean Daley, whose gruff vocals sound like a young man imitating a blues singer, the band came together in Burlington, VT, in the late '90s and gigged regularly in the bars and taverns throughout the state's myriad ski towns (much like Colorado's String Cheese Incident). They quickly recorded Someday I, their debut album, which was filled with dense in-joke lyrics (including the band's van), cultural references (Sesame Street's Snuffleupagus), and the usual spectrum of favored stoner topics. ~ Jesse Jarnow
