About Current Joys

Current Joys is the latest incarnation of an ongoing musical project from indie-pop singer Nick Rattigan, who began releasing music in 2011 as The Nicholas Project. He switched to TELE/VISIONS in 2013 and adopted the name Current Joys in 2015. • Rattigan grew up listening to The Beatles before transitioning into nu-metal bands like Slipknot in middle school. He credits his musical awakening to a “cool aunt” who gave him the first Violent Femmes album and suggested he listen to Goo by Sonic Youth. • He has released four full-length albums since 2013, along with a flurry of EPs, singles, and fanzines. • In 2017, he made his debut as a music video director with the clip for “123” by Girlpool. He’s also directed videos for Current Joys songs. • Rattigan is also half of the indie duo Surf Curse, playing drums and singing.
