In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. At six years old, I would go to piano lessons in the music room at my elementary school. My piano instructor would get frustrated that I would play by ear instead of reading the notes. I simply liked the sound of good music coming from the piano. Tell us why you chose this song. “Before We Begin” I love "Before We Begin" because it marks my return to making music after over a 10-year break. The smooth lo-fi hip-hop track represents new beginnings for my music career. What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? I started a record label called Shaman Work Recordings in the early 2000s. I worked with talents like MF DOOM, J. Dilla, and Aloe Blacc during that time. Almost 20 years later, Aloe Blacc and I reconnected to co-write and release our song "Crazy".
